About Us
CFR’s 50th Anniversary!!
In 2026, CFR will celebrate 50 years of service to children,
the child care community and families!
History
In 1975, a group of local parents established a Preschool in Rushville. In a rural area with many isolated and low income families, few community resources, and no public transportation, the desire for additional services was soon expressed by participating families.
The organization, incorporated in 1976, has since evolved from a parent-cooperative preschool in Rushville to a unique family-centered service organization with locations in Penn Yan, Canandaigua, and Seneca Falls. Known for 20 years as the Child Development Center, we changed our name in 2000 to Child and Family Resources, Inc. The center's programs continue to offer support of the educational, emotional, and social needs of families and children of all ages.

Our Commitment

All customers will have the same opportunities to access available services we offer. This includes the right to non-discrimination and non-harassment based on New York State Constitution and the New York State Human Rights Law. We strive to provide high quality, sensitive services to our customers- parents, providers, businesses and community members.
Child and Family Resources, Inc. is NYS Standards of Excellence Certified
Throughout New York State, Child Care Resource Centers (also known as Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies -CCR&Rs) are an invaluable link between families, child care providers, and communities. CCR&Rs educate families about high-quality care and help them find it; recruit and train new providers; offer providers technical assistance; and encourage government, business leaders, and the public to support the expansion of high-quality services.
Child and Family Resources has been recognized by the Early Care and Learning Council (ECLC) for the successful completion of the NYS Best Practices Certification process since 2016. Child & Family Resources continues certification including regular agency self-assessment, policy and practice evaluation and ECLC review. Successful completion of the certification signifies that the CCR&R is a high quality, professionally run organization that uses sound business practices. For assistance with questions or concerns regarding the quality of child care resource and referral service delivery please contact our Executive Director.
